Event Recap: 2025 Ethnicity Pay Gap Summit – Feb 2025
On Friday 7th February, the Ethnicity Pay Gap Campaign team hosted an insightful summit at Lloyd’s of London which was packed with practical and inspiring sessions.
“There’s no one-size-fits-all solution. Leveraging ethnicity pay gap data isn’t about hitting a number. Rather it’s about understanding the unique factors at play in each organisation. A tailored, data-driven approach is essential. Copy and paste won’t work.”
Felix Wong, iCAN Thought Leadership Lead
Initially, we heard from Mark Lomas, Head of Culture at Lloyd’s, who shared their success in leading change in the London Insurance Market with their initiatives and their 1 in 3 target for hiring ethnic minorities. Mark talked about the priority of investing in ethnically diverse talent at early careers level, with Lloyd’s making 50% of their offers to ethnically diverse talent - which in relation to EPG shows the importance of actions which may have a short-term impact but help to build a long-term robust talent pipeline.
The day continued with a presentation from Anthony Horrigan at Spktral titled “What Does Ethnicity Pay Gap Actually Mean?”, which outlined the approach organisations should be taking and what they should be focusing on.
We then moved to a panel discussing “Factors within an organisation’s control” with Bola Ogun, Global Total Rewards Lead at London Stock Exchange Group; Joanna McCrae, Director, DE&I & Social Impact, UK at Page Group; and Anna Cotgreave, Head of Reward & Benefits at Clifford Chance, discussing people, talent, processes and best practices for an organisation to consider.
The next panel was around “Employee Engagement, Inclusion & Development” with Nina Goswami, Head of Inclusion UK at Clifford Chance; Meera Somji, Co-Founder at Clusivity; Jeremy Crook, Chief Executive at Action for Race Equality; and Asmina Islam Chowdhury, Programme Development Manager at NHS Providers discussing communications, culture and disclosure rate.
And finally, the outstanding “Moving from insights to meaningful action” masterclass from Nigel Marriott, Chartered Statistician at Marriott Statistical Consulting, in linking analytics and talent to deliver impact. Nigel also showcased the need for statistical analysis when looking at EPG data, setting timeframes and knowing if your plan is on track.
From these sessions, the iCAN team has created an in-depth report picking out the key themes and practical tips to help your EPG reporting implementation and development.
