Happy Holi!

Wishing to all those celebrating a colourful, joyous and propsperous Holi!

What is Holi?

Holi is a Hindu festival that celebrates spring, love, and new life. Some families hold religious ceremonies, but for many Holi is more a time for fun. It's a colourful festival, with dancing, singing and throwing of powder paint and coloured water. Holi is also known as the "festival of colours". Holi marks the arrival of spring and the end of winter. It is usually celebrated in March.

What do the different colours mean?

Ever wondered what the different colours mean during Holi? Find out in our infographic below the symbolism of each of the colours (copy courtesy Lick.com)! Traditionally, Holi colours were derived from natural sources and are either particulate powders or liquid splashes. In ancient times, when people started playing Holi, the colours used by them were made from plants like Neem, Haldi, Bilva, Palash (etc).
