iCAN and ABI announce strategic partnership
We are thrilled to announce that iCAN (The Insurance Cultural Awareness Network) and the ABI (Association of British Insurers) are joining forces to promote ethnic minority diversity, equality, and inclusion in the insurance industry.
This partnership demonstrates the ABI’s ongoing commitment to driving positive change in the sector, and will see iCAN and the ABI join forces on a host of different DEI initiatives and events throughout the year.
The partnership kicked-off with iCAN in attendance and hosting a stall at the ABI’s Annual Conference 2024 in London on 27th February.
We also hosted a joint event on Thursday 14th March 2024 to celebrate International Women’s Month.
The iCAN & The ABI - International Women's Day: EmpowerHER event aimed to spotlight the remarkable journeys of accomplished female leaders navigating the insurance industry. The event featured esteemed speakers – comprising of both accomplished female leaders and male allies – who will be sharing their valuable insights and shedding light on challenges faced and victories achieved.
Throughout the year you can expect to see a lot more from this partnership, including:
Joint DEI initiatives
Research projects and white papers
Networking events
Additionally, the ABI will be contributing to iCAN’s already well-established and industry-leading DEI initiatives, including our own industry job board iCAN Apply, our INspire mentoring platform and helping to further expand the iCAN membership reach across the insurance industry.
Speaking about the newly-announced partnership, Ajay Mistry, Co-Founder and Co-Chair of iCAN, said:
"We are very excited to partner with the ABI and work closely together to promote diversity, equality and inclusion in the insurance industry.
“As well as joining forces to run great events and initiatives, this partnership is a great opportunity for both us and the ABI to pool resources and share best practices as we continue our DEI work in the insurance sector and beyond.
“This collaboration shows that we can achieve more by working together than we ever could alone."
Liisa Antola, ABI’s Senior Policy Adviser for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion said:
“We’re delighted to be working with iCAN as part of our efforts to make the insurance and long-term savings industry the most diverse, equitable and inclusive sector of the UK economy.
“Through this collaboration we can harness the power of events and networks to reach a wider pool of talent and support people to enter the sector. Having a diverse workforce is crucial if our industry is going to reflect the society it serves and to sustain competitiveness in today's dynamic business landscape.”
