International Women’s Day 2023 - #EmbraceEquity
International Women's Day (IWD) is celebrated on the 8th of March every year to recognise and appreciate the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.
The first International Women's Day was observed in 1911. Since then it has become a global event celebrated in many countries. The day also highlights the ongoing fight for gender equality and women's rights around the world.
The theme for International Women's Day 2023 is #EmbraceEquity.
Here are some ideas for celebrating IWD in your workplace:
Host a panel discussion or workshop: You can invite women leaders or experts in your industry to share their experiences and insights about women's issues and gender equality.
Organise a mentorship or networking event: You can connect women in your organisation with mentors or other women in their field to help them advance their careers.
Screen a film or documentary: You can organise a film screening or documentary viewing that focuses on women's issues, women's rights or women's achievements.
Decorate your workplace: You can decorate your office or workspace with posters, banners and other visual displays that highlight women's achievements and the ongoing fight for gender equality.
Organise a fundraiser: You can raise money for a women's charity or organisation that supports women's rights and gender equality.
Share stories and experiences: You can encourage your colleagues to share their stories and experiences related to gender inequality and women's rights. This can help raise awareness and create a more inclusive workplace culture.
