Events Assistant


The Brand Engagement and Communications team are currently looking for a new Events Assistant to join the team. This role sits within the heart of promoting Markel as a leading insurance brand through strategic marketing activities and communications. As an Events Assistant you will support the Events Manager and be a key part of internal and external brand campaigns, digital and traditional marketing activities, events, sponsorship and PR.

Types of tasks that you’ll be doing:

  • Provide administrative support on budget, post-event reporting and feedback. This will also include RSVP management, presentations, on the day support, post event communications and invoicing

  • Liaise with the design team to build collateral required for events. e.g. Adverts for sponsored events

  • Assisting with event packs, presentations, and any other event literature/ documentation where required

  • Attend and support on-the-day experience delivery (assist in the registration process, setting up name badges where required, and welcoming of guests)

  • Assist with the development of the annual Events calendar, building positive relationships with internal and external partners

  • Image sourcing and resizing for digital content as well as capturing event photography/video content as the need arises

  • Maintaining the teams intranet page, ensuring content and resources are kept up to date. This includes design support for social media, email campaigns etc

  • Merchandise such as sourcing new products, managing orders, and maintaining stock levels for the business

  • Working projects and support the team with ad-hoc activities to deliver various projects

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience in events, admin and marketing or similar roles

  • Excellent telephone manner and customer service

  • Effective written and interpersonal skills and ability to work with people in different settings

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Previous use or a good understanding of Photoshop is beneficial.

  • Strong organisational skills are required.
