Delegated Underwriting Assistant

Main purpose of job:

Assist the Delegated Underwriting team in the review and oversight of delegated authority agreements and provide managed syndicates with delegated authority related support and guidance.

Key tasks

1          Assist in the coverholder onboarding and contract review process for DUA business written by Asta’s syndicates and managed MGAs.

2          Assist the audit process, including coordination and review of coverholder audit reports

3          Maintenance of records in the delegated underwriting management system

4          Responsible for the production of reports and MI management information (MI) for internal meetings and regular syndicate meetings.

5          Administration of Atlas tasks, entry of new binders on DCOM, Delegated Audit manager (DAM) audit scoping, monitoring and providing support to syndicates on Delegated Data Manager (DDM).

6          Assist the DUA manager in the delivery of Asta’s delegated authority oversight strategy in line with the Principles for Doing Business at Lloyd’s.

1          Communication: good interpersonal and written skills that enable the individual to build trust with senior members of managed syndicates, coverholders and brokers

2          Effective organisational skills and a proactive outlook in setting and prioritising work and meeting deadlines

3          Flexibility: A sense of perspective and commercial awareness

4          Able to work unsupervised, the role assumes a degree of autonomy

5          Good level of numeracy and attention to detail

6          Ability to work as an effective team member or as an individual, as circumstances dictate.

Key technical skills, knowledge and professional qualifications required

1          Current and relevant experience in a delegated underwriting role.

2          Educated to A level standard or equivalent

3          Good working knowledge of MS Office (or similar) programs, particularly Word and Excel

4          A good understanding of Lloyd’s requirements for delegated underwriting arrangements, essential

5         Familiar with the structure and content of binding authority, lineslip and consortium agreements

6          Prior use of Lloyd’s systems including Atlas, DCOM, DAM, DDM, Crystal and Risk Locator, essential
