Underwriting Performance Analyst

The production of accurate and complete regulatory returns, internal reporting and business forecasting for syndicates and MGA’s. Provide support to functions within the Underwriting Management team to assist in the monitoring and analytics of the performance of managed clients.

• Production of regulatory reporting for Lloyd’s syndicates. Liaise with the clients and provide accurate and appropriate data as requested within agreed deadline.

• Coordination of the business planning process with close liaison with clients, Lloyd’s and other internal departments.

• Produce and analyse relevant MI as required, notably for board reporting purposes. Extract and manipulate data from relevant data warehouses and format into new reports.

• Monitoring of managed clients underwriting performance against plans/procedures. Liaising with clients and regulators as required.

• Assist with the on-boarding of new clients and migration of existing clients as required.

• Liaise with clients and other functions within Asta attending meetings as required.

Key personal skills

• Highly numerate with the ability to produce consistently accurate work to tight deadlines.

• Strong communication skills both verbally and in writing and the confidence to interact with senior members of management internally as well as with clients and regulators.

• Ability to prioritise workload and coordinate with the team to ensure deadlines are met.

• Ability to progress issues on own initiative, but sufficient judgement to know when to refer to manager.

• Willingness to learn and commit to development of professional qualifications.

• A sense of perspective and commercial awareness.

Key technical skills, knowledge, and professional qualifications

• 2-3 years of experience in Insurance, ideally working in underwriting or related fields

• An understanding of how a Lloyd’s syndicate operates within the market and as part of a managing agency

• Willingness to study towards professional qualification (CII) is preferred.

• IT literate; Excel skills a requisite, with a natural ability to pick up new systems quickly.
